SMOS-BEC Center: The SMOS Barcelona Expert Centre on Radiometric Calibration and Ocean Salinity (SMOS-BEC) is a joint initiative of the Spanish Research Council (CSIC) and the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) to contribute to the ground segment of the Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) mission of the European Space Agency (ESA). The main goal is to foster the SMOS related activities of both institutions in the Barcelona area and make visible this coordinated effort to the international community.
BCSI: El Barcelona Center for Subsurface Imaging (Barcelona-CSI) està format per un grup interdisiciplinar d'investigadors de geociències de l'Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM), la Unitat de Tecnologia Marina (UTM-CSIC) i l'Institut de Ciències de la Terra Jaume Almera (ICTJA-CSIC), tots del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC). Els treballs de desenvolupament metodològic i tecnològic en geofísica es combinen amb l'obtenció d'imatges sísmiques i de propietats físiques del subsòl fent servir dades reals, amb la integració d'un ampli ventall d'observacions per estudiar processos geològics.
